Introduction
Buck Marine Diesel is proud to present a new line of Marine Diesel Engines that are specifically designed for use in the marine environment. We have utilized a myriad of `tried and true` diesel technologies that have been proven in over 50 years of use.
The Buck Marine Diesel engine line comprises over 70 proprietary castings. Each engine assembly will be performed by one technician, rather than relying on an assembly line. Extensive dyno testing will be performed to ensure optimum performance of each engine delivered.

Product Overview
We are offering a unique lines of marine diesel engines. The line will be initially offered in an inline 3- 4- & 6-cylinder orientation with power output capabilities ranging from 150 to 650 horsepower or more.
From the beginning of this project we have been striving to produce the lightest weight and most powerful diesel engines ever available to the marine propulsion market. While focusing on engine longevity and durability we have created a new diesel engine that also offers ease of service and repair. With emissions being of major concern to all engine manufacturers, "BUCK" will offer a revolutionary approach to fuel efficiency. By implementing a 2 injector per cylinder design, tremendous increases in power output become possible while improving engine emissions.

Project History
For the past five years Mike Buck, Owner of Buck Marine Diesel, has devoted endless hours to the study of the compression ignition engine and the development of new ways to improve its performance. The designs can be attributed to his creativity and vision. Mike has been the motivating force behind the development of these high output and efficient diesel engines.

Having experience in marine engine installations and other applications, Mike has designed these engines to be both friendly to the installer as well as the service technician. His attention to detail has gleaned many positive responses from various market contacts that have viewed the prototype designs.

Development Process
The Buck Marine Diesel Engine was completely designed utilizing 3D CAD software. As a result, we have been able to scrutinize every mating surface and component to ensure that even the first engine assembled will have no conflicts. Our small staff allows for rapid decision making and the ability to make changes quickly offering immediate results. By being able to see how items fit together in a 3D environment, we have greatly reduced design time. This has given us more freedom to try new design approaches, thereby improving the functionality of the overall product.

Product Features
The key to our product's performance is the ability to properly cool the engine. Extensive research and testing has gone into developing an efficient cooling system utilizing high capacity Heat Exchangers which provide exemplary cooling capability to both the engine coolant and the lubrication system. By evacuating the heat produced by the combustion process more evenly and efficiently, greater power and longer engine life can be achieved.
With an increased rod-to-stroke ratio of 1.75:1 we achieve maximum performance gains and reduced piston and cylinder wear. This increases engine longevity while increasing engine power output. The longer rod also reduces pistom slap noise.

Every Buck Marine Diesel currently in development uses a 4.625" piston coupled to a 5" stroke crankshaft. Combined with a slower overall engine RPM we decrease piston speed to again reduce piston and cylinder wear while increasing power output from the large bore and stroke.
Our engine design uses ductile iron gears to drive the camshaft and pumps, which decreases overall engine noise. There are no timing belts to stretch or break. The use of gear driven pumps eliminates the dependence on belts which can result in engine failure.

The only belt driven device on the entire engine is the alternator.
Every "BUCK" Diesel uses the same front and rear end components. They all use the same gear sets, the same water and oil pumps, even the same SAE-2 bellhousing.
The commonality of many of the engine components allows for dramatically reduced dealer inventory.
The modular cylinder design of the Buck engine allows for quick and easy replacement of a single cylinder. During major overhauls, most typical engines require complete disassembly of the block to have numerous internal parts machined and refitted. With the exception of crankshaft damage, no engine removal or off-site machining should ever be required.

Replacement of pistons and cylinders can be accomplished without removing the oil pan or even draining the oil.

Bolt commonality across the engine lowers the tool count needed to perform all maintenance.
We hope to please the consumer with our better performance and higher product reliability while also reducing service time and cost.

Using no flat gaskets, these new engines are designed with o-ring seals on all mating surfaces. Copper rings as cylinder seals allow for higher cylinder pressures than typical flat head gaskets. The use of o-rings means no more gasket scraping during repair and better seals with fewer leaks.

Imagine a complete engine gasket set that easily fits into a small plastic bag. All-in-all another major improvement to enhance longevity, increase performance and reduce repair costs.

In Closing
Boaters are unique people. If the engine they use is great, they will shout it to the roof tops and if it's not, they will shout their disdain as well. We will not place these new engines in the market place until they have been thoroughly proven, and in addition every engine we produce will be thoroughly tested before shipment. We would like to build a sense of community around our products - a following, if you will, of loyal customers who appreciate a great product as well as great service. Bringing to the boater the very best marine diesel engine possible is what we want to achieve and for us, missing that mark is not an option. After all, the "BUCK" does stop here.
Note: Buck Marine Diesel engines are still in the development stage and we plan to make them available as soon as possible. We are currently raising capital to begin production. We will be happy to talk to prospective customers or dealers about these engines at anytime.
